Who can apply for SWEEP funds? California agricultural operations who will have control of the land during the duration of the grant can apply. The project cannot build upon previously funded SWEEP projects directly affecting the same Assessor's Parcel Numbers (APNs).
What are the exclusions from applying to SWEEP?
You cannot apply to expand irrigation systems within your existing agricultural operation.
You cannot apply to expand new groundwater wells or increase a well depth.
You cannot apply to perform research of an irrigation system nor can you apply to test technology.
Which practices are eligible for funding? Some of the practices that are eligible for funding include: drip irrigation, pump retrofitting or replacement, fuel conversion (i.e switching from a diesel pump to an electric pump), and more. The complete list of practices can be found in the Request for Grant Applications on pages 6-7.
How long is the project duration? The project duration is 24 months long starting in 2022. The project must begin and be fully implemented no later than 24 months after the grant has been awarded.
What information or documents do I need to apply?
12 consecutive months of energy records from your agricultural operation.
Pump test(s) (that states overall pumping efficiency (%), horsepower, pumping depth (ft), discharge pressure (ft)) for any pump that is affected by your project.
If you lease land, a statement signed from your landowner stating that you will have control over the land for the duration of the grant.
